The UK’s leading contemporary music franchise The Rock Project is launching its first school in Spain

The rock and pop schools, which teach children aged 7-18 how to play the music they love, is being launched in Mallorca by international guitarist Andre Ruffell.

The 24-year-old, who toured 10 countries with Iron Maiden and has performed at Donnington and Download festivals in the UK will open the new school at Queen’s College Palma.

“As a guitar tutor I really enjoy helping young people learn to develop their musical skills and The Rock Project builds on that by adding performance,” Andre said.

“The performance aspect is really the magic ingredient as it helps the students grow in confidence week on week. Having previously worked for a Rock Project school in the UK, it’s amazing to see the transformation in their musical skills and self-confidence.”

The sessions will take place every week of term, with separate groups for juniors, aged 7-11, and seniors aged 12-18.

Students will choose to be taught either guitar, drums, bass or vocals by a professional musician before joining together to play as a band.

MD Stuart Wynne, who has grown the franchise to more than 60 schools across the UK and Ireland along with a recent venture in Bangladesh said he was delighted with growth of The Rock Project.

“Launching the first new school in Spain is another great landmark in the ongoing success of The Rock Project which comes only a matter of months since we branched into Bangladesh,” Stuart said.

“This is in no small part thanks to the enthusiasm of the franchisees joining our team, plus our back office staff who are there to guide and encourage them along the way.”

Founded in North Wales in 2005, The Rock Project became a franchise in 2008 and has now seen around 4,000 students take part in sessions.

With a team of regional managers covering the South East, South West, Ireland, North East and Scotland in the UK alone, The Rock Project continues to branch out overseas.

Business people in Australia and the United Arab Emirates have also expressed interests in launching The Rock Project franchise.
